The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Career Development Bureau are seeking a qualified individual to join our Strategic Research, Planning & Course Design Unit. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will support research, analysis, auditing and evaluations of Provincial Police Academy (PPA) programs, procedures and processes in support of efficient and cost-effective training, learning and development. Knowledge of program analysis and evaluation methodologies and techniques to assess the effectiveness of new/changed policies and programs; and to provide recommendations on Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and program change.
Knowledge of research and analytical methods and techniques, including quality assurance techniques and performance measures, to conduct quantitative and qualitative research; to perform analysis; to develop options and recommendations; and to participate in auditing activities.
Knowledge of computer applications and software to prepare documents, correspondence and reports, presentations and spreadsheets to research and retrieve data using the Microsoft or equivalent suite of office productivity software, database design, structure, and data management.
Written communication skills with the ability to summarize research/analytical/evaluation findings, prepare written reports, issues notes, decision notes, business cases and presentations to senior staff. Oral communication skills to effectively present information and findings to senior staff and to deliver presentations.
Ability to coordinate and collaborate with all levels of OPP members and subject matter experts on identified issues and initatives, to propose recommendations or influence on alternative approaches with supervisor; to participate on committees; and, to work collaboratively on project teams, committees and joint initiatives.
Creativity and problem-solving abilities in identifying performance gaps and developing communication and/or training solutions to address priorities.
Ability to research policies, processes and issues; interpret findings and conduct analysis using multiple sources of information/data, taking into consideration qualitative and quantitative factors, to identify key issues, implications and other relevant factors.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify appropriate research strategies and resources for generating reliable and valid data. Ability to select and apply suitable research techniques and methodologies to collect information; analyze quantitative and qualitative data through statistical analysis, and validate results.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize workload on a daily basis.
